Programming Note: This blog was written around October 2012, hence the Rush concert reference. This one veers a bit further from gaming than the last, and there will most likely be a supplemental post later on in the series. I didn't even get to the touch on the music!
I'm aware it's now Friday. This was written out completely and had the first video added at 4PM yesterday, but my laptop was crapping out on me, and having been awake since 7PM the day before, I passed out and woke up at 12AM today to find my laptop still being a POS. I restarted it after grabbing some stuff to eat, getting a shower and a couple other things, and it seems to be working now, so here we are.
So, I have been surfing the net, going about my daily hijinks, when I suddenly come upon some great news.
I was out to day doing the old waiting for the wife while she shops routine. I wandered over to EB Games for a look around and wound up coming out with one of these things.
Mothman here, flitting around from site to site looking for deals for you PixlBits.
I finished the witcher 2 yesterday, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I am taking a break and playing through the campaign of halo 4. I need to cleanse my palate before i return and play through Iorvoth's path in the witcher 2.
So I just cleaned my room ... kind of; I go by my next door neighbor's late dad's motto: "if you can walk around in a room, it's clean." So what I mean by "cleaning" is picking crap up off the floor, mostly old clothes to go to the laundry, putting new sheets on and making my bed, then calling it a day and ignoring any dust, my closet, and the multitudes of crap on my shelves and dressers. You may call that "lazy," I call it "it looks cleaner and I can walk around, so my mind is more at ease, which is the only reason I bothered to clean this shit in the first place."
I just love scanning things and what better thing to scan than video game print ads. I picked up the comic, Time Warp #1, this week and scanned two game ads, Bioshock Infinite and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.
So basically I came to a realization when 1up closed down: people actually think I'm entertaining. Like I saw people comment, but I always thought they were drunk or tried injecting crack for a change. But no, I'm legitimately entertaining. So I thought, "Well why the fuck am I doing this for free?" So, I'm going to make some changes to turn my blogs into more of a service for the rest of you. Now, how is this a service you ask? I don't know! All I know is that it gives me more money! So in the future expect...
The gaming world is staying quite busy and Im staying busy too which makes it difficult to stay up to date on everything. So far I havent fallen behind on anything too badly. I am however trying to get caught up on blogs on here along with everything else since I have the free time to do so.
It was a busy week for everything other than gaming, it seems.
With Episode 28 of Retro Rampage released, and episodes 29 and 30 trapped in post-processing-but-on-deck-for-release-soon, that 30th episode will mark the end of Season 2, and we'll be preparing for the third season. Since we love it here at PixlBit, and are using this as our second home away from home, we're going to give you some info on what we're planning on bringing to the table for the third season of Retro Rampage.
I was a long time lurker on 1up.com. About the time I decided to participate, the site went defunct. Wondering aimlessly around the interwebs, I found pixlbit. Lo and behold, I recognized many folks here from 1up. I decided to hang my hat a bit and see what happens.
Apparently, I have many of you at the disadvantage. I recognize you, you have never had the opportunity to see me. Hopefully, I can rectify that one. :)
A bit about me.
I first came into gaming as a wee lad on the 2600. My favorite genre and system over the years were RPG's on the SNES, though I have grown to love a wide array of games and systems.
I hope to post my thoughts here on games I am currently playing. I don't want to call them "reviews" because they will probably not be that structured. They will shoot straight though, be that good or bad.
Hopefully I can make some friends here who can make sense of my nonsense.
So I joined up to pixlbit a little after the announcement of 1up's end. I feel a little guilty of that, like I had scrambled to find another safe harbor for myself, but I enjoyed the atmosphere of 1up and have the same vibe here. So here I am, introducing myself to a new community.
Hey people! I have about 22 Dota 2 keys lying around, because Valve are generous mofo's and we should all bow down to their gloriousness. Anyway, if anyone wants them let me know in the comments. Actually, scrap that. Lay your best advancements on me in the comments, and then the Dota key shall be yours!
