Games I'm Playing:

Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS)

 photo Shin-Megami-Tensei-IV-Video-Games_zpse8ae595a.jpg

I'm over 60hrs into this game and I'm not sure how close I am to the end.  60hrs! and it's getting to the point that the game is overstaying it's welcome.  SMT4 is a good game but it has it's problems that make it more work to play.  I'm not talking about it's difficulty.  It's actually not that hard, because of my knowledge of demon weaknesses from previous SMT games.  The main problem I have with the game and the reason why it's taking too long to progress is the lack of a proper map.  I spent hours in the game lost.  Just wandering around hoping to run into the next area to start a cutscene.  What makes it worse is that there are areas I have to back track to.  I discover them early in the game, but I'm locked out for whaever reason.  Later, I get the item or permission to enter the areas I had to pass up, but because it's been hrs or days since I was in that area last and the map is almost completely useless, I can't remember and find the place, so I spend hours aimlessly looking for the place again.  It's awful!  My kingdom my a slightly better map!  What is also annoying is that the map can't be view while the game is paused or in a menu screen.  It can only be viewed while I'm in action, which means enemies can discover me (and they will) and force me into battle.  It's not that bad if I know my enemies and their weaknesses, but if it's an enemy I don't know or an enemy that gets the jump on me, I could easily lose my life.  Even enemies that are much weaker than me have the potential to take out me and my demons if I don't play smart.  Saving often is a must in this game and sadly, I only have 2 save slots!  Why only 2?!  There are a few more things I could bitch about, but this is the stuff that's keeping me from finishing the game.

Dragon Age: Origins (360)

This game takes so long to play.  I enjoy playing it, but I wish I could knock it out a lot faster.  I would like to play through it again, but I have other games to get to.

Games I Bought:

Since I hadn't done a blog in a while, this list my seem a bit long.  It's actually not all the games I bought since my last blog, but I'm pretty sure this is most of them.

Mario Super Sluggers (Wii)

Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii)

L.A. Noire (360)

Soul Calibur IV ( 360)

Fallout New Vegas (360)

Borderlands: GotY (360)

Smash Bros Brawl (Wii)

Little Big Planet 2: SE (PS3)

Midway Arcade Origins (360)

Plants vs Zombies (PS3)

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS)

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (3DS)

Resistance 3 (PS3)

Kane & Lynch (360)

BulletStorm (360)

Dead or Alive 4 (360)

Wet (360)

Cooking Mama: World Kitchen (Wii)

Preordered Games:

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (3DS)

My favorite Zelda game is A Link to the Past.  I can't wait to play this.

AquaPazza: AquaPlus Dream Match (PS3)

I was told about this game today.  I hope it's as good as it looks.  I enjoy the Arcana Heart games, so I don't see why I won't enjoy this.  This game seems similar is content and style.

And that's about it.  After I finish up Dragon Age, I hope to start up Assassin's Creed II.  I'm at the end of DAO and I should be finish it real soon.  If I'm lucky, I can beat SMT4 this weekend.  I have to work, but there is a lot of down time.  I will be a happy man if I can put this game behind in the next couple days.  When I'm done, I want to start Ocarina of Time 3D.  For those paying attention, I hadn't played anything Mass Effect in over a month.  Might be 2 months.  I do think about starting it up again.  What are you guys playing?

A couple weeks ago I bought Red Dead Redemption goty edition and I've been enjoying that quite a bit. I'm going to grab Dead Space 2 on Amazon soon, I haven't played that yet and have been wanting to for a while. If I still have a little money left over after DS2 I might try to get the Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition.

Lol I wish I could say I'm proud of you for not playing Mass Effect for 2 months, but those are great games and it's not like you to go too overly long without dipping back in a little bit now and then. In time whenever the feeling is right you'll get back into it, and I'll see you on XBL and it'll say you're in a Mass Effect game, and I'll smile a little bit.Smile

One of these days, I'll get Red Dead Redemption:GotY.  I have regular game and it's awesome.  I thought about holding out for the New Vegas: GotY, but New Vegas was only $5, so I couldn't pass it up.

Going out without Mass Effect is tough.  I try not to thing about it and time flies by. Laughing

I thinking about getting Ducktales.  I'm trying to hold out for a price drop.  I would like to get the Mickey game too.

that's a big haul!  i love mario sports games.  super sluggers sounds fun.

i like DAO too, but I've been playing for a year and still haven't finished.  I play it a couple hours a month.  weird.  I really like it though, it's one of my favorites.

I've been playing Final Fantasy Tactics on the iPad and DQ6 on the 3DS.

I picked up Final Fantasy Tactics (PSP) earlier this year.  I hadn't played it yet.  I still need to play DQ 4, 5, and 6 on the DS.  I played 9 and thought it was great.

Can't wait.  It should be awesome!  I wish the original Link to the Past was ported to the 3DS too.

Playing Etrian Odyssey Untold all the time right now. I preordered Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus and just bought Red Faction: Guerrilla.

That Zelda game looks interesting, but I really really want to play Wind Waker HD right now.

I have yet to play or own a Etrain Odyssey game.  I would like to start collecting that series.  I see the Red Faction games when I'm browsing.  One day I'll probably pick one up.

I played the demo for Red Faction Guerrilla way back when it came out and knew right away from the way vehicles handled that I would love it. I never did pick it up though but watched my friend play it a lot. Now I'll get to play it finally.

Yeah, I thought Persona 3 & 4 were better at level layouts and balanced difficulty. One of the things that kept me away from Nocturne was the supposed labyrinthine areas and the more extreme boss battles. Sure, I like to be challenged but there's a point where challenge turns into frustration. lol.

Aquapazza looks great too. I loved Arcana-Heart. It was a deceptively deep fighter and Aquapazza looks like more of the same.

One of these days, I'll go back to Nocturne and finish it.  I'll have to be in a great mood to get it done. Laughing

I'm surprised I never heard of Aquapazza.  I'm at GameStop checking out and I'm info about this game.  I'm shown a couple of vids from youtube and I'm interested.  Bonus part is that it's only $30!  AWESOME! Surprised

$30.00 is a great price point. I get tired of games retailing at 59.99 a pop! However, prices will eventually drop. It's the one great truth I live by!

Ooohhh, Wii Games!

Hope you enjoy DKCR and Brawl. Both are great and I personally consider Brawl one of my favorite games on the Wii.

Lately, I can't get close to my Wii.  My kids are hogging it all the time.  They're playing a lot of Brawl.

I'm still playing SMT IV too and man, that map is annoying. I just wish you could tap on the places you've discovered and get some info about them like what it's called, was there anyone there, is it a demon's domain, etc. You'd think Burroughs would do that automatically! I haven't touched the game this last week though. Been too busy. I hoping to get some good playtime tonight and tomorrow. I'm ready for it to be done too.

Good haul of games you got there. I've played or just own quite a few of those. DKCR is a great co-op game.

I try not to go more than a couple days without playing SMT4.  Any longer and I forget what I was doing or where I was going.  I played last night and it took me hours to find my next area.  By the time I found where I needed to be, I had to stop playing.  I'll pick up again tonight.  Once I know what I'm suppose to do, it doesn't take me long to beat the dungeon and boss.

I bought Dragon Age: Origins for $5 on clearance. It brags on the box about it being by the same makers of Mass Effect, so I figured why not. You think it is? I heard it's more like a Lord of the Rings game.

Yeah, Bioware developed Dragon Age: Origins before they did Mass Effect.  Dragon Age is more like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, which was also developed by Bioware.  If you enjoyed KotOR then you should enjoy DA:O.  IMO, DA:O is like KotOR without the Star Wars stuff.  Oh and it's like LotR with the elves, dwarfs, mages, etc.

It's a shame such easy-to-fix problems are hampering your experience of SMTIV. I know someone who bought that game and almost immediately gave up on it.

I also have AquaPazza preordered. I'm not big on fighting games at all, but it's cheap and I love the visual style. At $30, it's not like waiting for it to drop in price will do me any good!

It is a shame.  If I could only view the map in a menu screen, it would help.  SMT4 is a bit of a let down, but I'm going to beat it.

There was a time in my life I was pretty good at fighting games and now I can't play for crap.  I still like playing them though and it's hard to pass up a good looking game that's only $30. Cool

I'm so sorry about the Resistance 3 purchase. Hope you got new or else you'll have to deal with the stupid PSN pass.

I don't usually play online multiplayer.  I just play the main story single player.
