What a horrible night to have a curse.......

This piece may look small but a lot of details went into those damned trees! Just wanted to portray a “special moment” where Liam and Amy get to rest amidst all the horror and chaos happening around them.

To this day I appreciate the nes, genesis, and snes side scrolling action plat-formers that had a horror slant to them and the illustration above is kind of a tribute to that. Beyond “Sweet Home” I do not think any thriller/horror rpgs ever came out during that period. (Unless you also want to count Shadow-gate and 7th guest which were more point and click adventure games) At that point in time you had to get your scares on with games like Splatter-house, Demon’s crest, Ghost N Goblins, and Castlevania!

The songs I listened to while making this were Scarborough fair, bloody tears, whiter shade of pale, cradel of forest and nights in white satin.

As always awesome work my friend! The trees kind of remind of that level in mortal kombat 2......... Toastie!

Oh man, that Acapella guy is so awesome! I love that Hammond B3 organ sound in Whiter Shade of Pale too. So soulful. Love it!

A lot of music from the 60's-70's is good stuff. One of the few cool things my dad did was introduce me to that era of music!

My favorite time period for music even though I didn't discover it until the 80's.

I iike the trees in the background.

You should draw more Angi and Brandy.

I've got a new blog you can read now.  Thanks!

Don't know much about Mario Cart but my friends put a lot of time into the original on the snes,Cary! At that time I still preferred F-zero just because it had a cool futuristic motif. I loved the vehicle designs in that game.

The orignal F-Zero was neat, but I only felt like I needed to rent it once.  As a first-gen SNES title, it was a bit limited.  However, other F-Zero games on the N64 and GameCube I liked much better.

Nice tribute! I haven't played any of those games (besides later incarnations of Castlevania) but I can see still definitely see where your inspiration came from.

Thanks,Kev. Glad I was successful at somewhat emulating the vibe of those horror classics!

Shin Megami Tensei came out on Super Famicom. It's got demons and the occult. That's horror RPG enough for me.

That's very true,Chris! However like "Sweet Home" it kind of stayed in Japan for awhile. But maybe if you were savy enough and rom concious enough you could get some of the earlier entries through other means!

I know back in the day Nintendo was "family friendly" to the extreme so they probably thought bringing SMT to North America would tarnish their image a bit.

I'm glad Nintendo has a much better relationship with Atlus's flagship rpg series today!

Awesome music choices. I have yet to hear a "Bloody Tears" version I dislike.

Dig the picture, reminds me of Mortal Kombat

Makes me wish we got that cart release of the first Clock Tower game from the series of the same name. Don't recall if it was a NES or SNES release. All I know is that we never got it and I wish we had so it could stand with the rest of the titles like Splatterhouse and the like.
