About a month ago, Nintendo brought out a massive update to the 3DS StreetPass Mii Plaza program, and added four games in addition to Puzzle Swap and Find Mii I & II.  I’ve been able to try these games with some StreetPass tags I’ve gotten over the past month at meetups and whatnot, so now I’m ready to properly talk about these titles.  So here are some quick, fun little reviews of each game!

This past week was kind of rough on me.  My grandmother passed away last week so over the weekend I was in Alabama for the funeral and stuff.  She was really talented and artistic, and she was even a gamer, too!  So I wrote a blog because I wanted to brag about her.  I hope you get a chance to look at it, as well as some other reviews I’ve written over the past month.

This year marks the 30^th Anniversary of the Famicom, the Japanese equivalent of the NES in the US.  To celebrate, Nintendo has offered one Virtual Console Wii U game each month for only 30 cents!  They’ve done this for a few months now, and the last 30 cent game was just released.  I’ve bought them all, as it was such a great deal.  So in this blog, I thought I’d take a quick run through of the games in this promotion.  Now, keep in mind that most of these games you can’t get for 30 cents anymore, as each game sale only lasts for a month.  But I’m going to take a look at each one anyway!

For my last blog in my series on the characters in Project X-Zone, an action-strategy RPG on 3DS, we’ll look at the cast from SEGA’s games.  Of all the three companies’ games listed in Project X-Zone, I probably know the least about the SEGA roster.  So this will be a rather short and uninformative blog.  Maybe some of you folks can fill in the gaps for me in the comments section? 

Even though Namco Bandai is my favorite video game company, of the three game makers featured in Project X-Zone, I’m probably more familiar with the Capcom roster in this 3DS action strategy RPG featuring heroes and villains from Namco Bandai, Capcom, and SEGA’s games.  Since last time we looked at the Namco Bandai characters found in Project X-Zone, this time we’ll look at the Capcom ones.

Project X-Zone is a new action strategy RPG for the 3DS.  It’s actually pronounced Project “Cross” Zone, though.  Anyway, the gameplay isn’t too much to write about, but the strength of this title comes from all the crossover characters from three different gaming companies working together to fight evil.  Favorite characters from Namco Bandai, Capcom, and SEGA are featured in this game, so my next three big blogs are going to focus on the characters in Project X-Zone from each respective company.  Since Namco Bandai published the game, we’ll take a look at their characters first.

Recently I got Game & Wario for Wii U.  It’s in the WarioWare series of titles, but they probably didn’t use the name because the games are a bit different this time around.  More like longer mini-games instead of the two second microgames of the past.  They spoof Game & Watch with the title, and the start screen for each game feature cheesy ‘box art’ for every mini-game.  So as I always like to do with these kinds of things, here’s a rundown of the mini-games you can play in Game & Wario.

Guess what?  This June marks the 10^th Anniversary of the GamerDad.com site!  It’s been around in some form or fashion ever since Father’s Day of 2003!  I wasn’t there at the beginning, but I came on shortly thereafter.  A month or so after it started, a classic gaming Web site I used to visit posted a link to an article about Space Invaders that was on GamerDad.com.  I really liked the site and thought it matched my tastes in games.  Plus, in college one of my magazine projects was a mock magazine about technology and games for kids, and when I got out of college I was supposed to start writing for a game site for kids called Zgadz (which went under after the dot com bubble burst).  So I thought the GamerDad site would be a good fit for me to write for (after I was let go from The Dallas Morning News a year earlier), and I think I had my first review there in September of 2003.  So to celebrate the site’s 10^th Anniversary, here are some more game reviews I’ve written there lately.  Please click and read as many as you can, and maybe even post a comment or two!  Thanks a bunch!
