One of my favorite poems from my childhood was The Wonderful One-Hoss Shay. We also had a linen dish towel with the poem Old Ironsides printed on it. So I guess I'm a bit familiar with Oliver Wendell Holmes.

Every time you write something about the Uncharted series, it reminds me I need to go back and finish the first one. Maybe my friend Michael will come over and get me through the fire fight I'm stuck on...

Hmm...depends on what you like. Folk is a pretty broad genre. Check and see if they have the Green Linnet Anniversary collections. They're compilations and will give you a pretty broad pool of various artists to listen to. Richard Thompson is good. I'm partial to The Battlefield Band. The Utah Phillips tribute CD "Singing Through the Hard Times" is really good, it was up for a Grammy a few years ago for best folk album of the year. Joan Baez's older albums are good. That should get you started.

Knew you'd like Shadow Complex! There's an incredibly satisfied feeling that one gets when one has just puntedone of those bombs into an enemy or two. One of these days I'm going to get fancy and try to run through it with as few power-ups as possible, just because.

Would be nice to see on a console. American Gods is an amazing novel, and Neverwhere was pretty damn good, too.

Aliens (the film) and Video Games

I might have to check those links out. Alien is the only movie that has given me nightmares as an adult. I think it's the psychological effect of something chasing you through dark, confined spaces with no where to go that really got to me. Watched it once and called it good. Love Aliens, though. More science fiction and less horror than the first one.

Passing on all of these. Just the trailer for Madman was enough...

I got the strategy guide for Ni Ni Kuni when I preordered the game on Amazon. It's one of the nicer strategy guides I own.

Do We Really Need Everything In HD?

Posted on 10/21/2013 at 09:15 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I have a few games in HD that I also have is SD. One of them is the Ratchet and Clank Collection, and it does look amazing in HD, I have to say. It was more for the trophies, though, lol. I bought Beyond Good and Evil HD in hopes that it might convince Ubisoft to make the sequel. Ha ha ha. I do think that releasing older games to make them more accessible is a good thing, though. I would never have played Ducktales, for example, if it hadn't been re-released for the current generation.

As for movies, I have been buying new movies that I want in bluray, but I'm not going to go back and replace all my old DVD format movies with bluray. I'd go broke. Your comment about Star Wars just reminded me that I need to go find a cheap used VCR, because I own the trilogy from before George Lucas "new and improved" it. Han shot first, dammit!

Poe: Not just that ghost in Zelda

Poe is good. I discovered The Raven when I was eight or nine, thought it was the coolest poem ever! at that age.
