Episode 106: Allow Myself to Introduce...Myself

Posted on 02/27/2017 at 11:37 AM | Filed Under Feature

Top 3 consoles: 3) NES - My first and one of my faves. 2) Sega Genesis - Played a lot of games and still same of my favorite games of all time. 1) PlayStation 2 - Peak of my gaming, best games in my opinion, and when I had the most time to devote. The fact that it was backwards compatiable and also a DVD player really helps its case too.

Me and my friends STILL reminisce the Halo LAN parties to this day. Such good times. One memory that will always stick with me is that my friends and I played a lot, so we were pretty good. We met this other group of guys from next city over that said they were the best, so we played them LAN in a church, lol. We beat them 50 to 1....we still talk about it Smile

Stage Select

1) Onimusha 3 – This one is obvious. I think. The opening cutscene for Onimusha 3 shows of some great fight choreography and a final showdown at the end that is pure awesome. Hit up YouTube and watch immediately if you haven’t seen it yet.

2) Final Fantasy VIII – The music and scenes for the opening starts off slow and as the music picks up so does the action, it is fun to watch, I would watch over and over again when the game released. Really gets you hyped to play the game. Another YouTube hit you should watch.

3) Finally the Metal Gear Solid series is my favorite in gaming and all the opening scenes are pretty good. It came down MGS2 and MGS4 and I am going with MGS4. The opening monologue of Snake will always be one of my favorite moments in gaming.

Chrono Crossing

2001 was an awesome year, so many of my favorite games of all time came out. My honorable mention is Halo, so mannnnnyyyy LAN parties. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty definitely is my pick though, as I mentioned before the series is my favorite in gaming and this is tied for my favorite in the series. My brother and I each bought our own copies we wanted this game so badly. I probably put 30 hours into the demo that came with Zone of the Enders. I will admit the bait and switch with Raiden was disappointing at first, but I didn’t care as you (spoiler) meet Snake later in the game.

Stage Select: I would want Psyonix, developers of Rocket League, to make a new Twisted Metal game. The physics and controls for Rocket League are perfect, similar to controlling a RC car and having those controls in a Twisted Metal game would be really fun. I bought Twisted Metal Black for PS4 and was playing it recently, the controls in the game make it hard to go back to. Even the game mechanics of the boost and the fact that the cars can “jump” would migrate very well. I like the Twisted Metal games for the interesting characters and seeing their endings, so having it play great like Rocket League would be awesome.

Chrono Crossing 2002: My choice is Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, my favorite in the series. I played this game endlessly when it came out. My favorite skateboarding game by far. The original for Playstation was a huge hit at my school, everyone played it. I knew all the songs by heart, all the skaters by name and all the signature tricks. Wolverine and Darth Maul were the hidden characters, which I thought was really cool. I was so into this game, that I even started to get into skating myself, but I never really was any good at it.

Also, just to update on Ape Escape 2 from my previous comment, the voices on the Playstation 4 version sound British or something, so maybe they just ported the European version? Really weird indeed.

Ape Escape 2 is so awesome, especially the boss battles. Its probably in my top 10 or 15 games of all time. But yea, the main character is voiced by the same voice actor as Ash from Pokemon and the girl (forgot her name) is voiced by the voice actor who played Misty from Pokemon. It was a trip, I liked it though.

I forgot my password for a few months (thus accounting in part for my inactivity). I must have requested my password over 10 times and never got any response. The only way I am able to login now is because Google Chrome auto-saved the password, but I still don't have it. Can we fix that? Thank you Cool

I am back! It has been a while since I have been active on this site, but I have been listening to the podcasts regualry. I will try to rate you guys on iTunes, you guys are def one of my favorite podcast. But here are my choices;

Stage Select: For the original Metal Gear Solid on PSX, actually fighting Decoy Octopus would have been awesome since the boss fights in that game are so great. I am interested in how they would have done that.

Chrono Crossing 2003: My pick is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, one of my Top 5 favorite games. I was never a fan of action RPGs until this game, the only one I completed at this time. This was one of the rare games where I completely played it one way (light side) and then turned around and played again the opposite (dark side).  This game and the sequel need a remaster, altough I do own on iPad, it is just different. Honorable mentions: Ape Escape 2, Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner.

Just wanted to ask if you guys played Ape Escape 2 originally on PS2? The voice actors were from the original Pokemon anime, it was kind of cool, but the version of Ape Escape 2 you can currently buy on PS4 has changed the voice actors.

Episode 89: Wibbly-Wobbly, Timey-Wimey

For Chrono Crossing 2011 edition, i just want to say there are a bunch of huge games that came out that year. Unfortunately I didn't play much of them. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception was the only game I completed looking through the options and I did like that game very much so that is my choice. The multiplayer was pretty awesome, the graphics were gorgeous and the gameplay was familiar, yet tweaked enough to feel fresh. I own and haven't played Skyrim, Dark Souls and Portal 2 to this day. Uncharted always delivers and is my game of 2011.

Circling back to 2012, I agree with you Julian that it was surprising that Mass Effect 3 and XCOM didn't come up in anyone's picks. I too very badly want a Mass Effect Collection for PS4, I am dying to play through that series again. The multiplayer was really fun as well. Skyrim coming to PS4 was one of my wishes, so I'm glad that is happening, especially with mod support.

Some pretty good games released in 2012; Journey, The Walking Dead, Mass Effect 3, Borderlands 2, Diablo 3, Spelunky, Dishonored, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Far Cry 3, Spec Ops: The Line...etc

I think my choice for Chrono-Crossing is Borderlands 2 though. I believe it is the first game that I purchased all the DLC for and actually played it all. I liked the new classes a lot, still played the soldier class though. Handsome Jack was an entertaining villain and probably the best part of the game. I liked the first Borderlands, but the ending was disappointing. The sequel was better in every way.

I play Broforce all the time when I just want to turn a game on and blow s*** up, lol. It's pretty fun. Have you unlocked all the heroes? I believe I have, no more countdown on prisoners I need to rescue for next unlock.
