So I figure most have heard that Microsoft has finaly figured out that there current strategy with the Xbone was doomed and gave up their used games and internet policies. I did not hear anything about the mandatory kinect issue though. So on the one hand this is good for Microsoft and the most hardcore Xbox fans. But the rub is I personaly have never liked their buisness practices and I think their hardware is junk. And even if I had been a fan of their consoles up to this point, the fact that they WERE going to do this would keep me from buying one as a matter of principle. The damage is done, they have shown their true colors and there is no going back.
So we're hard at work getting a proper write-up for the Xbox One's newly reversed DRM policies. I had a smile on my face when I heard the news. Not because I think Microsoft cares about us, not because I was to say "Sony told you so", not even because we can keep ownership over a physical item. I'm glad because people had legitimate issues with Microsoft's policies, voiced their opinions very loudly, acted with a huge lack of pre-orders, and scared Microsoft into adapting their ways to cater to the public's wants. Today we proved the power of the masses, that we can control our futures of gaming and won't support any video game company looking to disobey our trust.
Microsoft has retracted a couple key Xbox One policies, and lo and behold, they're the ones I care most about, and I've been saying all along they've mentioned they can change their policies any time, and that they had more games (at launch) I want and what I thought was a better controller.
Sunday night I had 40 dollars in my PSN wallet and after 3 beers and a nice glass of bourbon I decided to spend 20 of it on the Tomb Raider bundle. My wife came into the room and started talking to me while I was completing the transaction and I wound up confirming purchase without reading the f'in screen.
So Microsoft is now backtracking on some of the Xbox One's "Key Features" by stating that they are no longer going to impose DRM, always online, restrictions on lending/reselling, etc...
It has been a crummy week so far. Today started off poorly, but seems to be getting better. A good cup of coffee, and apparently sobelman's after work. Sobelman's is a burger joint that went head to head against AJ Bombers on Food Wars... Bombers won. I have been to AJ Bombers before, and they are good. The Barrie Burger is pretty tasty, a peanut butter bacon cheeseburger.
I hope to finally figure out how to set up my internet. It has been giving me grief ever since AT&T said that it was okay to set up the modem. I even tried to swap out my 1960s phone jack for something a little more modern.
I hope to finish the Legend of Zelda over the next few days. It is well designed, but I cannot say that I like how they re-used a lot of the bosses in the later dungeons.
I hope that the PS4 is released a week or two before the Xbox One.
I hope that they make a sequel to Man of Steel. I really want to see Lex Luthor, the greatest criminal mind the world has ever known.
I hope that they make an awesome choice, and choose somebody in their 40s to replace Matt Smith on Doctor Who.
I hope that 3 Floyd's Blackheart is as awesome as the style of beer would have me believe. An English style India Pale Ale, aged in oak barrels.
Ok I would like to say why all the hate for either system? Even thou Xbox at the moment is getting most of it. I understand where people are coming from..Microsoft is screwing up..But if you actually think about it every big video game company does this??

i finally broke down and bought one of these consoles. The Retron 3,which plays NES,SNES,and Genesis games. From what I understand it will play Famicom games as well. I had my doubts about this thing, but was pleasantly surprised by it. It works great and looks good even on a big HD display. I plan on getting a smaller old school tube TV for using it with. Maybe one of those old Sony or RCA flat screen types that I used to play PS1 games on. Retro games look awesome on those. It comes with 2 wireless controllers that work really well. Has two ports for your retro controllers on the front and sides. Connections for S-Video and regular A/V input with the White\Red\Yellow plugs. It's super lightweight and compact so I should be able to integrate it into my gaming rig easily. Now for the fun part.....retro game shopping!
For around a year, Phone/Tablet gaming has quickly become one of my favorite ways of playing video games. Sure they’re not up to par with the consoles or the handhelds, but there are a good number of games that could hold their own when it comes to enjoyment. Last week I re discovered one of these games when I decided to make an impulse buy at GameStop.
We continue our look into video games that should have movie adaptions. If you enjoy movies, and you missed any of my VG movie reviews from last week, be sure to check them out. I reviewed Super Mario Bros, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, Street Fighter, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Mortal Kombat, and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. But what games have never been made into movies that could actually be good (if done right)? Yesterday I gave three big ones. Today I conclude with three more. Not only do I suggest these games, but I also drop some names of people who should make these movies. Feel freee to share your own opinions. Here they are:
Damn I've been talking about TV a lot lately, with the shows you should be watching and the big bang theory blog. But what the hell. I'm going to talk about it some more! Dramatic TV Shows covers everything that's not a comedy, from fantasy, to action, and sci fi. Also, after this, I'm going to write up my top 10 favourite tv comedies, and there have been more than a few changes since I last wrote this. Anyway, lets kick this sucker off!
The Last of Us is fucking incredible. Buy this game now. Hopefully my review on Rotorob will be up sometime tomorrow. Hell, I'll even go as far to say it's my favorite game this gen after the Mass Effect games. Yeah, that fucking good. Now enjoy some gifs of Joel and Ellie fucking shit up while playing this unfitting music
From Kotaku about today's 4.45 firmware update for PS3:
Alot of you may have heard that Nintendo is shutting down the Wii Connect 24 features, which is no big deal. However it is to me. You see I have Metroid Prime 3 and the Metroid Prime Trilogy and there is some content I am missing. You can only get this if you have frineds on Wii Connect 24, you get this content by trading friend vouchers between games. I tried doing it on my own but it does not work between Wii and Wii U, apparently the Wii Menu on the Wii U is a gimped version of the Wii. So I ask you, does any of you have either and/or both games? I have enough vouchers to trade, so please help me out. The service is to end soon and I want to have that content, I'll never see it unless someone helps me.
Doling out “winners” and “losers” for E3 has always struck me as kind of pointless. It’s like grading the NFL draft the day after it happens – you don’t really know how well these picks will pan out in the end. Last year Assassin’s Creed 3 racked up a metric ton of E3 “Game of Show” awards from industry publications, only to be released to a rather tepid critical and consumer reception. Having a flashy presence at E3 – even with a solid demo - is just as telling as a game that no one notices or even has a subpar showing; it really doesn’t matter.
