Bloodwing

I always pick Roland, the soldier, in Borderlands 1, but today (because of achievements) I tried the other three characters to try out their specials. I liked Mordecai and his pet Bloodwing the best.

Bloodwing attacks

You can send Bloodwing out to attack foes. That's Mordecai's special. I wanted to stick with him longer after the achievement unlocked for gaining a certain amount of kills with Bloodwing, but I wasn't about to go through 40 plus levels again to catch up with Roland. So I returned to Roland but with some new strategies. 

In playing the other characters I came up with a new system of choosing weapons that makes it simpler and doesn't drive me crazy, like it usually does. It may not be the best but it takes a lot of guess work out of it and endless gazing at stat pages. I just compare like rarity gear and take the one listed highest in my inventory. The inventory seems to rank things in some mysterious way I don't understand, but I'm going with it. I'm just so sick of trying to calculate rate-of-fire, damage and elemental effects to come up with what is better than what. I just want to fight and work it out as I go.

Yeah I played a little of the first one. Loot games with millions of slightly different weapons can get a little annoying.

I basically gave up trying to figure out what was better. When you're picking up new weapons every minute of gameplay, it gets too tasking to try and figure it out. Now I just let the inventory list decide for me. So far so good for today. It actually freed me up to think about how to combine effects from multiple item types. I got a shock damage combination that created huge sparking storms on the screen. It was pretty cool.

I like how you give these other characters a try. I like my little comfort zone and I don't really leave it.

Well, it was for achievements that I did that. I always use Roland, the soldier, for my main character. I might try Mordecai next time now though. I wonder what Bloodwing does at level 50 or so.
