Done and Not Done

I finished with Fire Emblem: Awakening and Disney Infinity. I started free-2-play game Starlit Adventures on a random roll of the dice. I rage-quit Forza Horison 5 and for relief played Microsoft Solitaire Collection and watched a ton of youtube. Sometimes, I get a bit tired of losing at games.

Fire Emblem: Awakening (3DS): I rented this, played through several battles, ignored most of the dialog and set the battles to auto-battle with the tactic Blitz. I lost my Pegasus and then a story critical character that gave me a "game over" screen. Oh joy. I like this game but, and I can't believe I'm saying this, too much story. I don't need much story in my tactical game, so don't overdo it. Fire Emblem likes to overdo it. Well, I'm going to rent Fire Emblem: Birthright next and see if I can get into it.

Disney Infinity (X360): Trying to get my figures to level 15 became too boring. I only have a few achievements left since last time I played and they are mostly for getting 3 characters to level 15. I got Sorcerer Mickey to level 7 by doing all the Toy Box Adventure levels, but I can't get him into the play sets. So I picked up Lone Ranger and did everything I could in the Lone Ranger Play Set. I got him to level 8. I brought him back to the Toy Box and did his character specific Adventure level. I considered replaying the other Adventure levels but that seemed too boring. Then I looked at what I could do in the Toy Box. Not much at first glance. I'd have to build a lot of stuff on my own and figure out how to earn XP from it all. I wasn't up for it. So I packed it all up, including the Xbox 360, and now I'll wait until I get a Xbox One again to continue the toys-2-life replay.

Starlit Adventures (XSX): This is a free-2-play action/platformer I picked randomly from the list of top free-2-play games on Xbox. You start at the top of the screen and work downward across platforms and collect gems and defeat badies. Thankfully there's no time limit. You get scored by how many gems and stars you collect. I liked it enough to clear world 1 and almost all of world 2. I also played through all the available challenge levels. You also collect card packs that have puzzle pieces to complete puzzles in the "Album" section of the menu. This is exactly like that 3DS Street Pass "game" where you collect puzzle pieces from other people you pass by and complete pictures of you favorite Nintendo characters. Starlit Adventures has a cute character design that makes these puzzles fun to complete and look at. I like the game and may return. I got stuck on a boss battle but I watched my friend complete it, so it's possible I can too.

Forza Horizon 5 (XSX): At one time I was racing high level drivatars and beating them but right now I seem to only be able to beat "Average" avatars. "Highly Skilled" seems to be the minimum difficulty to get rewarded in various challenges, but right now I have not been able to beat them consistently. FH5 also annoys me at times with requiring a victory for almost every challenge. You can't come in anything but number dumb 1 to get rewarded. Sure, you get XP and cash, but they are not worth very much next to completing the weekly and monthly challenges. It bothers me to have fought tooth and nail in a race and come up 2nd and have to race it again to get the challenge. Luckily there are lots of races and challenges and I can do other things for a while. Well, this time I just shut the system down and took to my phone in frustration.

Microsoft Solitaire Collection (Android): I'm going after some long haul achievements in this game. You earn badges/medals/bands/whatever for Daily Challenges and Events. A certain number of them net you achievements. I have to play a lot of games to get there, but it's satisfying. I'm even getting used to playing Spider and Freecell, two Solitaire variants I find annoying and a little too time consuming. I'll move on to Microsoft's Suduku when I complete the achievements I have left.

Retro Replacement: While I wait for Fire Emblem: Birthright from the library, I set up my Wii-U and got Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker ready for a replay. I made a list of 14 Wii-U games to try out for the top ten list.

1. Wind Waker
2. Pikmin 3
3. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
4. Yoshi's Wooly World
5. Swords & Soldiers HD
6. New Super Luigi U
7. Paper Mario Color Splash
8. Swords & Soldiers 2
9. Kirby Randbow Curse
10. Mario Party 10
11. Wii Party U
12. Game and Wario
13. Epic Mickey 2
14. Tank Tank Tank

I only have the top 3 and the last one in my collection right now, but I can try the rest out via the library.

I thought maybe I was done with games after Forza Horizon 5, but apparently not.

Wind Waker is a wonderful game.  I liked that look even when everyone didn't.  I never got into the Pikmin games.  DKC: Tropical Freeze is too hard.  Yoshi's Woolly World is a return to form for the Yoshi series and it's great.  New Super Luigi U is way too hard.  Color Splash is better than Sticker Star but not by much.  I liked Kirby and the Rainbow Curse better than the 3DS game it was based on.  And I didn't think Game & Wario, Epic Mickey 2, and Tank! Tank! Tank! were as bad as everyone said they are.  I rather liked them.

I always like that cell-shaded, or comic book look better than realistic. Pikmin is my favorite series on Nintendo. Turns out I own Yoshi's Woolly World. I remember it being super creative. I can't wait to play more of it. I've never played Game & Wario. I tried Epic Mickey 2 once and got frustrated, but I love the idea of Epic Mickey so much I'll try it again. I got Tank! Tank! Tank! very early on because it reminded me of the Earth Defense Force series.
