Very Switchy

Still very Switchy this week before Christmas. Merry Christmas to all btw! Here's what I've been playing.

Minecraft: I rented this from my library to see how the cross-play works between Switch and Xbox. Mad Krammer and I played for several days and had no issues. I think it even performed better than when we were playing it Xbox to Xbox. Weird.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Dark Prince: I played until I got stuck on General Chayne in the Diabolic Hall. It seems this is about the end of the first third of the game. I've been backtracking, leveling and synthesizing monsters in order to take him on again, but I'm getting a little frustrated that I'm not strong enough yet. I joined the Reddit community for this game to get some tips, and I may even watch a youtube vid on strategy. There's little I can do now, it seems, except level grind, and I'd rather not do too much of that. So I took a break from this for a little while.

Chants of Sennaar: A coworker told me about this and I played the demo. It's a puzzle-adventure game where most of it is about decifering a language you don't understand. You're given symbols related to puzzles and have to figure out what is being said to solve the puzzles. Hard to describe, so watch this:

Everdream Valley: I bought this on sale for $12 hoping it would be my new Farm Together game. Its promise is great but there is some problems with playing it on Switch in TV Mode. The mini games use the motion controls. I figured out the cow milking mini-game only by looking up a reddit post, and even though I did the same for the cooking, I still couldn't get a recipe to work. Very, very frustrating, but I so want to keep playing this.

You're a kid left on a farm in desperate need of repair with your grandparents. They give you chores to do to fix up the farm. Here's a vid:

I could play it directly on the Switch device with more sane mini-game controls, but I think I might just get it later for Xbox and play it there. Or, I may get the Pro Controller for Switch which also doesn't use motion controls. The weird thing is, the game gives tutorials for the mini-games but does not explain the motion controls needed for TV Mode. How stupid is that. Anyway, I really like the game, just need another way to play it.

Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp: I knocked off another level in AW1. My style is total Blitzkrieg with the largest tanks I can afford. This makes me most like the CO Max.

My friend Mad Krammer, whom is always adjacent to me in the "game room", just got a new Xbox Series X console and Diablo IV. I really want to join him in this game, but I'm sticking to my Switchy guns this month. I nearly got Diablo III for Switch ($25) since IV isn't available yet. I wonder when IV will come to Switch?

Have a holly jolly Christmas!
