It's hard to pull myself away from some of these games but that's my plan. Here's what I finalized my month with this week.

News

Dragon Quest III remaster coming in November to all systems! I can't believe it. They're finally remastering DQ games for consoles. I'm so excited.

Games

Halo 2 Anniversary Edition: i finished another easy difficulty run for a playlist challenge. I rediscovered skulls and how to use them. There's a newish one that lets you fly through the levels. It helps with some of the achievements but others are disabled when you use this skull. I completed more par time score achievements. I found all the toys. I did not know you could stray so far from the main path in campaign maps. Finally, I got a lot of easter eggs in the multiplayer maps and campaign. I was shocked to find so many achievements to go for after having played this before several times.

Gears of War: I got the All Cog Tags achievement after 13 years since my last play in the Xbox 360 version of the game. I'd done this in the Ultimate version more recently. I also got the Clusterluck achievement (3 kills at once 10 times) finally for both versions of the game. It's amazing to me I never got this after so many regular playthroughs but enemies rarely stay in groups of more than 2 for very long. I had to replay an early level several times to get to 10. All other achievements are for multiplayer and I have little interest in that. It was a blast revisiting this game. Timely too as the prequel is about to release later this year.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: I joined the mages guild but got stuck on my last recommendation which doesn't seem to want to resolve. I did side quests for a while, took down a few more Oblivion Gates. i lost all my stuff infiltrating a cult but rebuilt it later. It's really tough to pull myself away from it for the coming month. I think I've found my groove with this game finally. No more pointless deaths and dead ends anymore. Even though I'm leaving it now, there will be plenty left to do when I return this time next year.

My Time At Sandrock: By the makers of My TIme at Portia. I tried that one a while back and couldn't get into it. It seemed more designed for PC with less than intuitive controls and menus. This Sandrock game, however, is perfect on console. I tried it out to get a quick achievement, but I think I'll keep it around and play more of it. You know, it's a crafting/adventure game. Gather your resources and make stuff, sometimes battling badies and developing relationships. It's fun.

That's a week. I can't wait for next week when I start the next three years of retro, 2007-2009. Even if I don't get to everything, it's a chance to assess my collection and see what I should have for those years. I'm writing a blog now on the extended list I made today while at Game Junkies. There's sooo much. I love it.

Well, how was your week?

DQ3 remake looks neat, but I won't have time to play it.  Not with all those other games they announced at the recent Nintendo Direct!  I just want another Rocket Slime game!

I had the opportunity to review that Sandrock game, but it didn't look appealing to me.

Rocket Slime game? I'm going to have to watch more of that Direct.

No, Rocket Slime was not in the Direct.  It was a DS game where you played as a DQ Slime and went on an overhead perspective adventure and had really fun tank battles.  It's my favorite DQ game and I wish they would make another.  Technically they did on the 3DS, but it never came out in the US.

Oh. I've played it but for whatever reason I didn't understand it. I still have it though, so I'll give it another shot.
