I copied from OneDrive and the formating is funny. I usually retype it, but I'm lazy right now. I hope it doesn't cause too much annoyance. Anyway, I finished Hogwarts Legacy in every way and then played a little DQM: Rocket Slime and started an auto battler, Army of Ruin. Finished it off with some plans for 2026.
Hogwarts Legacy – I finished every last thing, getting 100% of the achievements. I didn’t think I’d get through all the collectibles, but before I thought I was finished, the achievement dropped. I had a couple left in Hogwarts and a dozen out in the world, yet the game decided I’d done enough. I had to do some battling for the last one which asks you to perform an ancient magic attack on every type of enemy. I had 90% of it, so I started going through them all systematically and got the last one on a Forest Troll. I guess I’d missed that one during regular gameplay. Phew! Combat is super fun, but I wasn’t looking forward to endlessly checking off enemies on my long list. What a great game this was. Rumor has it, there is a sequel in the making. I’ll be all over that.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Rocket Slime – I've only played an hour or so but I’m enjoying it. I haven’t gotten to the tank battles where I had so much trouble the last time yet. The only issue I’ve had is that my DSi XL tends to shut down if I squeeze it too hard like I do sometimes during boss battles. I wonder if it's squeezing the battery compartment on the left side and whether that’s a sign the battery is swelling from age. I’ll do some research. So far, the battery charges and holds a charge just fine, but I’ve used it infrequently over the recent years and it may be degrading from lack of use.
Army of Ruin – Two games left on my hard drive before I put the XSS away for a while and this is one of them. Developed by Milkstone, the makers of the Farm Together series I like so much, this is an auto battler like Vampire Survivors. I was curious about the history of auto battlers. Army of Ruin was 2022 and Vampire Survivors, 2021. 2019 seems to be the year the genre really blows up on PC with various mods of popular games. I noticed the genre with Vampire Survivors coming to console in 2022. So, since then I’ve been keen to try Army of Ruin, and since it went on sale recently for $4, I got it and started playing this week.
It’s a ton of fun. It’s exactly like VS but with richer graphics and sound. It also has more of a DnD vibe than VS’s gothic horror thing. Achievements fall like rain after battles too.

Only one week left for my 2025 gaming, and then I start a new procedure. I’m going to put away the current consoles and focus on retro first. I’m going to go through the history of gaming from beginning to end and spend as much time as I need on each console or handheld until I get to the present day. One reason for this is that I want to clear out a lot of unwanted games and accessories from my collection and play a lot of stuff I haven’t gotten to yet.
Have a fun Christmas if I don't blog before then.
