Fuck work, I rented

This is the End which was as good as I was hyped up or it to be and very funny while I did laundry at my friend's apartment

Gravity

The Conjuring

American Hustle

and Captain Philips

Having myself a day off from work and a looong movie night after I work out. Just ate, about to give my friend his key back.

Yeah, I really need to do a couple big blogs to make up for how much I've not done with these MaD blogs. In my defense, real life has been very hectic this month.

damn that's a lot of movies.  I saw Gravity.  It was good.  American Hustle I really want to see too, and not just because of Amy Adams.

It's aboboisdaman that only wanted to see it for Amy Adams. She is hot in the movie, but there's a lot more going on. I loved the twisty-turns it took, and I was endeared to the crooked politician most of all. Go figure.

Yeah, David O. Russel and Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper make a great team, Silver Linings Playbook was my favorite of 2012.

I think everyone likes cute and sexy redhead and great actress, Amy Adams. Whoever doesn't is a ginger with no soul. Amy Adams is no soulless ginger. She's a fiery, soulful redhead I want to bone. What?

I finally got around to Catching Fire.  It was good, but I don't like how it ended...  Typical middle of a trilogy ending.

They improved on the book, which is my least favorite of the book trilogy, so I was impressed. I didn't mind the ending. I was expecting it in both the book and movie. In fact, that was one of my favorite parts.

Wanted to see The Conjuring for a while, man I need to be better at managing my money.

Well, if you haven't paid to see The Conjuring, you've been managing your money somehow, so don't get discouraged. lol

I liked it more than most horror films. I'm not really a horror fan, but I like the slow burners that also work as dramas. It reminded me of The Exorcist in many ways.

I just saw Tim's Vermeer. It's about this guy who attempts to paint a copy of a Vermeer painting with no formal art training using mirrors like he thinks Vermeer himself used. I know now that even I can make an amazingly photo-realistic painting with this technique. Also, Penn Julette of Penn & Teller produced the film.

That sounds cool, where can I find it? I never even heard of it.

I wonder if that's how the forger made the painting of that picture Cooper and Bale were discussing in American Hustle.

It's out in theaters right now. Limited release I guess 'cause it's only in the art-house theaters in my area. It'll be on streaming services real soon I suspect.

Have you finished watching Gravity? Maybe if you really liked it we can be two fangirls squeeing about space debris :P

I liked it, but I'm not sure about squeeing. Now, had I relaized "letterbox" was not some weird DVD thing and I could have changed it to look normal in my DVD software settings, or that "cinema mode" basically just means "darkening mode" and watched it full screen on Standard or Vivid settings, I might have felt slightly different, but basically I think I missed out on the real experience by not seeing it in IMAX 3D and wound up just liking it, but not really being wowed by it or anyhting.

I also didn't watch the movie in IMAX 3D, but I still loved it anyway. I thought the way the movie was constructed worked very well. Different strokes I guess.

As always, glad you enjoyed it. Most people did. I talked to one of my DJs about it and he said one of his friends he usually agrees with about movies told him he'd love it and it was amazing, but he felt about the same as I did.

Different strokes, yeah, but I'd like to watch it in IMAX 3D.

I may have to hit up a Redbox, will be awhile before any of this is on Netflix. Gravity and American Hustle are up my ally, not so much the others. I watched Hansel and Grettle the other day, not bad if you want to watch a mindless action flick that does not take itself serious at all. Plus Grettle was hot.Tongue Out

Eh, that one just doesn't intrigue me. Gravity  was see above comment back to Alex, but American Hustle had some great twists and characters.

Captain Philips is actually really good. For some reason, I kept passing it up saying "eh" every time I saw it at Red Box, but it wound up being fantastic.

those are some good movies. This is the end was one of the funiest movies I saw last year. I have seen all you listed except gravity and captain phillips. I will be watching gravity on saturday when it arrives via netflix and captain phillips at some point.

I preferred Philips, which I was not expecting. I hope you enjoy them!

I dig This is the End, but I wish "Hermione" showed up more. I would have liked Kevin Hart to survive, too.

I keep seeing commercials for American Hustle, and I'm beginning to want to watch it. I have Gravity sitting in the next room, but I haven't popped it in the Bluray yet. You would think I would have last night when I had nothing to watch.

Especially on BluRay, which I imagine is a better experience.

Nothing wrong with a long movie night. I need to get caught up with my TV show backlog though.
