Is Shantae (GBC) Any Good?

Was considering jumping into this series with the GBC release available on the eShop - is this a good starting point? Does the game hold up? How's the DSi sequel?

Also, has anyone played Go! Go! Kokopolo? I hear that's getting pulled from the eShop and if it's any good, I might take the plunge.

Thanks guys!

I also want to play Shantae. The good thing is that they also brought the game to Steam, so maybe i'll pick it up on a sale or so.

I put a I put a little bit of time into Shantae.  It wasn't bad, but it felt a little dated and Shantae moves slower than I would have expected.  I did not spend enough time with it though as I wanted to replay the LoZ GB games.

Just a quick look at Go! Go! Kokopolo makes me want to download it ASAP.

Biased opinion here, but a YES for GBC Shantae. Definitely longer playthrough than Risky's Revenge.

Never heard of Go! Go! Kokopolo.

I LOVED GBC Shantae.  Still have my cartridge of it.  I think it's way better than the sequel on DSiWare.  Although that one was good, too.

A friend of mine said he didn't like the GBC one as much, though.

I've never heard of that Go! Go! Koko...whatever that was.

If you like Shantae, you should try Monster World IV.

Nick, the original Shantae is a great game! If it helps, you can read my review of it back when I did it for Retro Game of the Week (that way, you know my specific thoughts on it). But the short of it is, anything WayForward makes is great!

One of the Shantae games also made it onto steam. (Risky's revenge) I'm still planning to pick it up someday.

I picked up Shantae a while back while it was on sale.  I've been told it's good.  I only played the beginning.

I may look into getting that Go Go game.  Looks fun.

Sorry but I don't know. I'm kinda behind on my portables before the PSP.
