And being on Steam of course means I have Steam Power, hence,
Username: JimBeamHortonWho; I put it in my profile info on here
And I see Nick got Messaging up. Right now I'm getting blog updates and comment notifications; very handy, Nick! I dig what you do. Seriously, keep it up as you have been at full force, it's very cool to have a guy that is dedicated to improving an already cool website, and I think I speak for myself and the other refugees when I say your work is greatly appreciated.
But, I have some requests, because I'm kind of an overbearing jackass of a guest.
- Notifications and PMs separate; The way you added a messaging tab to the top right of the site when I'm logged in, maybe have one for Notifications too, to avoid clutter and keep what's public and private separate.
- Toggle Notifications On/Off; Self-explanatory
But hey, I'm loving what you've done so far with the stuff; keep up the good work! In many ways, the system is already better than 1up, so I really do mean it when I say great job! But shh, don't tell Jason I said that.
Anyway, some of you might not know that last year when I was looking for work, I was primarily applying to radio/DJ jobs. I've been meaning to upload some of my airchecks and maybe even do blogs by podcasting them instead of typing, but all in due time.
For now, I think I want to add a music theme to all my blogs from now on, if possible. I don't intend to step on anyone's toes with having this stuff, I just always like adding three to seven songs in my blogs, so I fugured, why not theme them out? Here's my gameplan:
Three songs every day. I'll try to advertise others' music blogs before posting my entries, and the music section of my blogs will usually be just after my GLaD entry that day, not dedicated music blogs like others have. If possible, I'll try to use my voice to introduce the songs.
Sabbath Sunday - Classic Rock/Heavy Metal in honor of Black Sabbath. Not gonna be as heavy/underground as homelessrook's Metal Monday entries, and I tried to make sure not on the same day, either. It is on the same day as Snee's Funky Sunday, but again, I'm not trying to compete with anyone, just posting more music for the hell of it. I'll try to advertise what others are doing for music on these days.
MixMaster Monday - Mixin' it up with whatever three songs pop in my head first; absolutely nothing like Metal Mondays by homelessrook, and again, the GLaD entry will be the focus before the music.
Alternative Tuesday- Exactly what it says. Might occassionally involve a punk tune, but again, not like what homelessrook posts on Punk Tuesdays; think more Bad Religion or Rise Against than ... actually, I can't recall the names of bands he posts, though I have enjoyed them, which is basically my point. lol But mostly, it'll just be stuff like Alice in Chains, Gotye, fun., etc.
Waxing Lyrical Wednesday - Sneenlantern's Modern Classical Wednesdays will in no way be threatened by my look at songs with my favorite lyrics, especially since those don't usually have lyrics. lol
Psychedelic Thursday - Involves bands like Donovan, Cream, The Zombies, etc.
Just For Fun Friday/TGIF - Usually a Top 40 type thing, or parody music a la Tenacious D. Just goofy, non-serious music to start the weekend. Rangergirl's Folk Fridays will still be amazing and probably outshine whatever three songs I post.
Ska Saturday - I reserve the right to post ska/punk as well, but will try to find more laid back ska to post. Mothman's Anything Can Happen Saturday is still a great way to look at artists you might never have heard of.
Let me know what you guys think of all this; again, they won't be dedicated music blogs, just three little afterthoughts coming after a GLaD entry.
Anyway, I'm tired, so you might not hear from me until late in the day tomorrow.
Yeah, seeing the notifications I can now say this makes for a better blogging site than 1up. I was hesitant to call this place my home, but now I have no qualms saying that. 1up was a great place, but it never really improved since 2008. It hasn't even been a month and this site has already had countless improvements.
I'm also on Steam, but I never really use it unfortunately.
That's awesome! Yeah, I love his music, so I've asked for his newest CD as a birthday present.
He kinda stretches his rhymes on "Thrift Shop," but it's so catchy and funny I forgive it. I actually found out about him by watching a video on Youtube called "Teens React to Thrift Shop." After I saw that, I started hearing that song on the radio, even my alternative station, A LOT. lol
Did you buy any games off Steam yet? Have you seen how utterly ridiculous their sales are? So much awesome stuff for so cheap! Feel free to add me if you want Joe. I don't get on there too much.
The pm system is great and I'm definitely looking forward to Sabbath Sundays. I hope you throw some Dio in there on occasion. His stuff with Sabbath is amazing! RIP Dio!
Sabbath Sunday!!!! I love it. Can't wait for that one. I need to get on Steam. To prepare for the future. As in,the coming of the "Steam Box" which was unveiled at CES this year. Also called the Piston,it is a tiny powerhouse that will be great news for gamers worldwide.
I actually sorta did it yesterday with my Guilty Gear X2 blog. It was more of a MixMaster cause I was emphasizing jazz, blues, metal, and classical influences of GGX2's soundtrack, but I did have "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" as the metal song.
I hadn't actually heard much of Steam Box, I'll need to look into that more.
