My lectures and in-class workshops seem to be getting worse before they get better. I thought basically creating a 7-page document with all the stuff these kids need to know in Final Cut Pro X would be good, but I lost track of the order I wanted to go in and wound up having to use still images to explain video concepts. Some of them had footage on their computers, some did not. That's on me for not thinking of it Friday, and I should have gotten the footage I was working on for another professor to show them, but ... yeah. Can't do anything about it now without a Tardis.

So here's how my "26 minutes of playtime" for GTA IV went down: 

Well, I finally beat the last mission in GTA III. I used all the cheat codes in the book to "save" Maria from Catalina and the Colombian Cartel, having used no cheats prior. Gonna skip over the other PS2 classics I own on PS4 and go straight to IV. First GTA I ever actually beat was V last year, so I figure I'll play numbered entries first (though I have Vice City started on both Steam and PS4). Of course, this plan depends on how well my laptop responds to a bigger 360/PS3 title like that. It responded well to 2013's Tomb Raider, but hell if I know given it also crashes when I try playing Limbo or Mark of the Ninja too long. Xbox/PS2/GCN era seems to be a safe bet on my "PC," but past that is a crapshoot seemingly dependent on how well a game is ported, even if it is playable on a phone.

Does anyone else have this weird habit of wanting to complete a game before moving on to anything else, to the point where you've stopped having fun and you just want to finish it? But looking at videos feels like "cheating" the same way reading SparkNotes doesn't give you the same experience as reading a novel? Just me?

R.I.P. David Bowie. A couple of my favorites were "Space Oddity" and "Let's Dance," which I became aware of via Elite Beat Agents. I'll be watching Labyrinth tonight if it's still on Netflix. Never seen it, but seen a few posts about it today and have been wanting to. All hail The Goblin King.

So I met with another professor yesterday to go over the class I'm teaching starting 10 days from now and he offered me a chapter in a book about video games. He emailed me the call for chapters and looks like I can pick my topic ranging from DLC to F2P to PC vs. Console vs. Mobile. I need to look at the call for chapters again, but I think I'd owe a 400-800 word proposal for my chapter and it'd go into this book regarding video game economics. I know the title had something to do with coins.
