I AM FROTHING WITH EXCITEMENT

I'm bummed that Star Fox has been delayed as it's a series I've always been fond of, but I think the delay was smart. I honestly don't see the title as a system mover. There's not a lot of fan fare around Star Fox outside of their already dedicated fanbase.
I think they were ultimately making more headroom for Super Mario Maker, Triforce Heroes, and Xenoblade. I'm sure they'll polish up Star Fox a bit more with the extra time and ultimately cover a gap in the release schedule early next year. Super Mario Maker will likely be their anchor title for the holidays and rightfully so. It's a really strong title that has universal appeal.
How the hell do they come up with these idiot game titles?
I generally enjoyed this game and I'd say my thoughts mirror yours almost exactly. The end boss was really terrible and the life system was something of a mess. Given the length of the levels, it was totally possible to die toward the end and have to repeat the whole damn thing.
The problem was exacerbated by the fact that you didn't get a fresh stock of lives in between levels. So you could conceivably enter a level with only one or two lives rather than a full stock of five, making it even harder to get through the whole thing. Chessa and I got in the habit of suiciding upon entering a level in order to get a full stock of lives before bothering to trudge through the next epic level.
Oh, the other annoying thing was the mid-air pinball attack thing. Unless you're exactly on the ground, you won't do a run forward, you'll turn into a ball and pinball diagonally forward. It took a lot of brain training to keep myself from attempting to run mid-air as the resulting action often resulted in insta-death. This made the game feel a bit clunkier overall, which was kind of a bummer.
All that being said, it was a fun game that encouraged multiple playthroughs of levels to collect all the stuff and beat the leaderboard scores.

Beware, it's not the easiest of levels. You'll really need to leverage your wall jumping and baddie jumping skills. Good luck!
Haha, I hear ya. Not thrilled about it, but a snip is definitely in my future... my very, very near future. Definitely couldn't do the infant thing again. With 1 and 2 I was able to roll pretty well, but this one is really killing me. A full night of sleep at this moment sounds simply amazing.
Holy smokes, 6 kids! Congratulations man!
We just had our third (3 boys now) about a month and a half ago, but he's definitely our last. Couldn't imagine doubling up on that. You are a brave, brave man :)

Thanks for the vote, and the Tweet! Hoping we make it on there as well.
Checked it out - definitely a solid start! I also noticed the "bug" with the number of jumps reseting from touching random surfaces, so I kind of had some fun "breaking the game." It actually made for an emergent experience, so, kind of cool!
Only other thing I noticed was that when you hit into a platform on a jump, your ability to make forward motion is locked, so you can't make it up to the next platform without landing and starting the jump over. Otherwise, great start!
Oh, also - the music is awesome!
