Mario's Picross is a major inspiration for PixlCross! The sequels for it were Japan-only and weren't quite as good as the original, but Chessa and I enjoyed them all.

Man, Plus10Damage asked you to leave? That's kind of shitty. I mean, life gets in the way sometimes and you just can't contribute the way you want to. I wouldn't want to lose a writer just because they get a bit behind. Sorry to hear that.
Anyway, I'm glad you're back here posting regardless of anything and I hope you get past that depression shit. I've never struggled with it myself, but I've been with or around people who have and it's a seriously awful thing. I'm sure I speak for the whole community when I say that we're here for you.
And, if you do get out of that funk and want to contribute on a more official basis somewhere again, feel free to drop me a line. We'd be happy to have you.
Thanks Jamie! Yeah, the Javascript stuff is a bit on the complicated side. But quite frankly, without the help of Dr. Simpson's page, there's no damn way I'd have figured it out by myself either.
Thanks man! It's crazy how many iterations we went through to get it looking good (I've got a blog planned to talk all about it!). It's easily been one of the toughest parts of this whole process. You don't think that you're going to obsess over it as much as you actually do.
It is so crazy that some dude in the UK had a super old web page with the exact solution I was looking for. I can't even begin to tell you how nice it was to find that. Of course, it was still a ton of work, but having the conceptual algorithm really helped.
I wanted to contribute my Javascript implementation to him so he could add it to his collection, but oddly his site has disappeared...
You got it, Cary! We're getting pretty close here. Just need to finish up testing the whole cloud upload/download stuff and it's ready to go through Nintendo's lotcheck process. There's some other housekeeping things too and the whole PR end of the thing, but we're really close to being all done (thank god).
Also, ambiguities are the worst! They've ruined many a good puzzle. We're hoping that longtime fans of this style of game appreciate that there are no puzzles that force you to guess.
Yeah, I'm also going to wait on a sale. I played the demo and enjoyed it - the new gimmick is cool and will definitely add a new layer to the gameplay, but I can wait. Regardless, I'm happy Nintendo keeps supporting the series, it's become a new favorite for me.
Totally stoked for this. Threw in $30 to get a console version and the PC demo. Happy to fund these guys and hope they can bring us a great platformer with the heart and soul of the original games.
Looks good. Definitely excited to check these out.
FYI, Guacamelee is awesome!
Solid list. Good ol' Spidey tops mine as well.
