Practically Perfect - Ninja Gaiden for Original Xbox

Posted on 06/28/2019 at 10:24 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I remember trying Ninja Gaiden on Xbox. I respect it, but it demanded too much from me. I tried Ninja Gaiden Black too and did better, but I still have no patience for it - repeating battles annoys me.

I also remember Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword for the DS. I always wanted to play that because the graphics looked so great - never did though.

Demo is on PS4 too. Maybe I'll try it there.

Borderlands 2, Beaten and Thrashed

I'm constantly amazed at the amount of real estate and volumes of voice and general sound in this game. Even robots have voices. Creatures growl and make sounds that are almost knd of funny in their way. The Varkids, which are basically like giant mosquitos, make this screetching sound that I keep hearing in the real world. It must use a common tone.

I keep thinking of the developers working for literally years on this world. I wonder why sometimes because it's just a game and will likely disappear from the world when technology upgrades in a dozen years or less. Some of these games are like art film, or just good film and should be preserved. I don't know how that will be done, or if anyone cares.

That's partly why I'm into short games right now, except when Mark and I both get on a new (or old favorite) game. If both of us aren't playing it, it's hard for me to stay the course with a long game. That being said, even with the social element in place, I'm getting a little burned out on B2.

I did all the side missions but there are challenges I could do to keep playing it. I'm more interested in running through all the old DLC right now, though.

I played just the opening segment and one race last week. You play in a legofied version of the game (maybe a limited version of the compete map? I'm not sure yet). Crashing through lego trees sends a shower of lego pieces everywhere. You're given a lego Mini Cooper at first and a plot of "land" where you can build your lego house. You enter races to win lego pieces to build your house. I only did one race, so I didn't see how you actually put those pieces together to make a house. The racing feels just like the main game, controlwise. I'm very excited to get back to it as soon as I get this Borderlands 2 bug out of my system.

You don't need to play B1 to enjoy 2. There are some references to 1 in 2 but you play as a new group of characters with the old ones as NPCs.

Howlongtobeat says 30 hours for the main story. I did all the side missions and took 50 hours. There's a lot of content. I'm starting to burn out playing the DLC.

In the 90s, I had all the systems once they got discounted. After the 90s, I always had an Xbox, then a Playstation 2-4 a little later, and then Nintendo system after that. Since 2001, most of my gaming has been on Xbox systems. It's just how it went with the friends I had.

I like the look too and it is threatening to burn me out with all its large environments. They do a specific design thing that gets you to travel a lot. Indoor areas spiral around and back on themselves, missions are always a trek across a wasteland. In a way it's good because it naturally leads you to all the areas of the game, but sometimes it's tiring.

He survived the Clone Wars being a bumbling fool. He's the luckiest Gungan, or sentient, in all the galaxy.
